Diamond ati radeon 9250 256mb RAM = $79.99
ATI RADEON 9250 256mn ram = $101.99

diamond is at walmart and ati is at best buy. i already bought the regular ati radeon last month at best buy.(cant buy online stuff for specific reasons)
the diamond has a fan
the regular ati radeon has a heatsink.

which is better and why?

Neither of those cards are worth anything for games.
If that is your intent, return it immediately.
There are far better cards available for around 100 dollars.
 
ATI branded cards are usually a little higher than your 3rd party brands. (diamond, sapphire, etc)

Indeed, a 9700pro available from the forums is $50. It is at least twice as good. Furthermore, it can actually play games.
 
He said in his post he can't by online, therefore his only option is retail stores. I would suggest trying a different retail store like Frys, they have more choices than Wal Mart or Best Buy when it comes to video cards.
 
Anything over $50 for a Radeon 9250 is a ripoff. There should be little if any difference between the cards though since they are the same model.
 
Which Question then?

Which is better?: They are about the same. ATi costs more, but it has a silent cooling solution according to what you said. Ati is known to be alright with warranties, but we're talking ~$30 here.

Did you get ripped off?: Video cards in retail outlets are one of the more unappealling parts to buy at retail. Unless maybe you got a Fry's (I don't have them around here but they seem for "people in the know") then most retailers charge too much. Hard to say you got ripped off, when they all do it. I guess the B&M market for VCs is small. If for gaming, it might not be worth the trouble.

Sorry I suggested forums when you didnt want to buy online. Oh well, there are some things that don't apply to both.
 
Try your local computer stores, they often have better prices and service then Walmart/Best Buy/Frys/etc.

As far as the difference in cards go, the ATI may have a wider memory bus. That will be about it though. If you're just looking for 2D then you're golden, but if you want to game then forget it.
