Difference between RAID 1+0 and RAID 10E?

Hello,

I'm having some trouble finding information on RAID 10E, and the comparison to RAID 10.

Does anyone have any information?

simply put 10 is for an even number of disks, and 10e is an implementation of 10 for an odd number of disks.

Thanks for the clarification. I was reading about 1E0 that mentioned that, and general "Enhanced" RAID configs; but nothing explicitly about "10E," and was wondering if there was something off about it.

Okay... so "distributed strip-set, with distributed mirroring" safe to say?

What would be the total drive capacity, and amount of allowed failed drives? N-1 capacity, and 1 drive failure?

RAID 10E is a proprietary standard from IBM.

Our IBM servers at work have it and we use it.

It's essentially RAID 10 with some additions. It's controller dependent and not a standard (AFAIK)

RAID 1E0 seems to be mentioned as this IBM proprietary standard.

However, I'm asking because 10E is supported by an LSI adapter on an HP XW4600 workstation.


Interesting. I think I'll call LSI for fun and excitement and post the answer here.
