Difference between Intel P4 Chips 2.8C and 2.8E?

You should just google it, however...

The C is the Northwood version of the chip which has 8K L1 Data, 512K L2, 0.13 micron and a 20 stage pipeline

the E version is the prescott core which has 16K L1 Data, 1MB L2, 0.09 Micron and SSE3 and also a 32 Stage Pipeline

I would recommend getting a Northwood right now until prescott reaches LGA775 this april/may

2.8C = Northwood .13 micron = great overclockers (usually 3.4-3.7Ghz! on air)

2.8E = Prescott .09 micron = good overclockers but put out a TON of heat compared to a similarly clocked Northwood. And sometimes slower b/c of longer pipeline. Though it is a little faster in a few things b/c of the 1Mb cache (and maybe SSE3).

* my recommendation..... get the 2.8C & wait until the Prescotts mature

don't get the 2.4B, get the "C" variant of the 2.4, and as for OCing, seems that the 2.4s are INSANE overclockers. But I still think that it depends fomr batch to batch.

here is an affirm for 2.4s being insane, my m0 is running 3.3 at stock volts, and I am still ramping it up.

same here

2.4C @3.4 stock voltages, thats as high as she'll go but im damn happy with that

i asked about a 2.8b. if i had a board that supported c processors i would get one. i was just wondering what kind of oc can one get from a 2.8b.

Buy a mobo that supports the "c" procs. or wait to see how the prescotts do on their new pin config later this year (I think thats when they're coming out)

Either way, my bad on the 2.4 thing, lol. Strange how no one else picked up on that tho.:p

you were right about the 2.4C's being insane overclockers, what were you wrong about?
