Hi,
I would like to post this here as well, after posting in the Storage forum, because it looks like there might be a possible issue with my motherboard.
I have an Asus P9X79 WS mobo that that has an Intel and a Marvell HDD controller. I had a WD RE 4TB drive connected on USB3 through an enclosure, and it started to fail.
When I connect it through the Intel controller, on any SATA port (6Gb or 3Gb), the WD Diagnostics Quick test and the error scan in HD Tune show me 10% bad sectors.

When I connect it via the Marvell, all tests are completely green, with 0.0% damage.
The SMART data shown are the same and show the drive as defective (items 0, C5 and C6).
Please see this post for more details

The question is, could there be an issue with the Intel controller on the motherboard?

Thank you very much.
