difference between BX80570E8400A and BX80570E8400

[lost_packet]

I'm seeing both the BX80570E8400A and BX80570E8400. One place even sells both with the BX80570E8400A being a bit cheaper.

Could someone tell me if there is a difference?

http://processorfinder.intel.com/ says that BX80570E8400 is a real order code, for a 3Ghz E8400 C0 stepping, and BX80570E8400A doesn't exist. The OEM code is EU80570PJ0806M, so it's not that either.

That must have changed recently, b/c I remember when I was looking up the SLAPL specs a week ago, I saw the ...A code.

From Intel:

Thank you for contacting Intel(R) Customer Support.

I understand that you want to know the difference between the Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor E8400 and E8400A.

Both are the same processor, just different box order code but physically the processor is the same one.
In other words there is no difference on both processors.

Please do not hesitate to contact us again if you need further assistance.

Sincerely,

Adolfo S.
