difference between 19LCD and 17LCD

As I am looking for LCD's im noticing that the native resolution on Most 17inch LCD is the same as it is 19LCDs (1280x1024).

Now does this mean for the 19inch LCD, the company just made the pixels all alittle bit bigger to fill out and make a 19 inch display, which if this was true would lead me to believe that the 17inch display would look a little sharper and the 19 to be a little bit more stretched out,

Is there any truth to this?
 
Yes, you've got it. Some people prefer the 19" because the image is larger at a given resolution (ie easier to see)
