wots the diffs between centrino and celeron mbile and intel mobiles?

i always hear centrino have wlans? but i dont understand since the notebook still requires a wlan module

i know in general such as low wattage usage during idle, etc. but most sales men tell me centrino have wireless its like saying no other notebooks have wlan if they arent centrino

wot else? prob architecture, etc init?

once i tested this sales man

i asked so wheres the connector for the wireless LOLL he goes some where around the back AHAHAA

then i asked wheres the IR? (there wasnt any IR on the laptop) he goes its built in LOLOL HAHAHA so i say but theres none? he goes its centrino its built in. HAHA aa the fucker.

In order to use the Centrino logo, a computer MUST include the following:

Intel® Pentium® M processor
Intel® 855 chipset family
Intel® PRO/Wireless Network Connection Family

If it is missing any of those, it can not use the Centrino logo.

So a Pentium M laptop, without a Intel Pro wireless adaptor (even if it has a different brand adaptor) can not be called a Centrino

oh wow thats so interesting...Intel Centrino mobile technology includes the following components:
Intel® Pentium® M processor
Intel® 855 chipset family
Intel® PRO/Wireless Network Connection Family

so it must be 855 chipset?

and i alo have this laptop which is celeron-m labelled but it has some intel chipset and intel wlan therefore its probay some celeron cpu thats why it cant have the centrino logo!?

Yep. Celeron dosn't count.

Pentium M i think is a rehashed Pentium 3 with added L2 cache and some enhancement - minus long pipeline/HT capability of a full-blown p4/celery. MIght be wrong though. It is rumored to be more effective at the same clock speed than a64 and, of course, p4

Kinda sorta.

It is based on the P6 architechture, but it has the most advanced branch prediction unit of any current PC (not apple) processor. So it is the best of both the old and the new.

Pentium-M and Celeron-M are specifically designed with low-power usage characteristics and high-performance at lower clock speeds. They can also conserve energy by turning off portions of the processor that are not used, in addition to SpeedStep.

Pentium IV-Mobile and Celeron-Mobile (hardly used) are the desktop chips designed to run on lower voltage and use speed-step to conserve energy.

The brand-name "Centrino," as stated above, consistes of the Pentium-M, Intel 855 chipset and Intel ProWireless LAN.

I wouldn't get a Pentium IV-Mobile at this time because a Pentium-M is nearly or as powerful yet has much longer battery life.
