diff between unlocked 6800nu and 6800gt?

wads the diff? the memory? i confused with 128mb 256bus thing.

And if I'm getting a 6800, Leadtek or Inno3D?
 
the 6800 nu only has 12 pipelines instead of 16 and is clocked a little lower. I know the gt is clocked at 350/1000. and I think the NU is clocked at 325/900 or something like that. Can't remember off hand? Maybe someone else can clear that up for me. As for as the bus, 256bit memory but is a much greater increase in performance if you were to compare it to say a 128bit of the same card. Always try to shoot for 256bit if it is avaible in a card.

Diff between a fully unlocked 6800nu has 128mb of ddr ram but with 256bit bandwidth and a 6800gt has 256mb of ddr3 ram with 256bit bandwidth. And the clock speeds are diff depending on the oc and 6800gt is better at high res aa+af?
 
The GT isn't that much faster than an NU but it is noticable. I have had both an NU (currently for sale) and a GT and found that HalfLife2 was a bit smoother with the GT at 1280x1024.

Untrue. The GT is a pretty serious performance improvement.

16 pixel pipelines/6 vertex processors for the 6800 GT vs. 12 pixel pipelines/5 vertex processors for the 6800. 350/1000 MHz for the 6800 GT vs. 325/700 MHz for the 6800. 256 MB of DDR3 for the 6800 GT vs. 128 MB of DDR for the 6800.
 
If both are overclocked to their max, gpu clockspeed wont be much of a differance. The only differance will be that most 6800nus can only hit about 900MHz memory and that 6800GTs hit about 1.1GHz. Also the 6800gt has 256MB memory which is useful in high res games.
 
Yeah - it's all about the memory. At stock speeds, the NU has 700MHz DDR, while the GT has 1000MHz GDDR3. The DDR doesn't have much of a shot at OCing to even stock GT levels. The GT also has 256MB which doesn't make a whole lot of difference in most things but can help a bit.

As for the chip, if you get a good one & have good cooling, you can push it pretty far. I've seen people reporting ultra speeds (400MHz) on unlocked NUs.
 
My BFG-NU, not overclocked, at 12/5 pipes

46 fps average in rthdribl

BFG-NU, 416/832, at 16/6 pipes

76 average fps in rthdribl, until the fan calms down, then it will sit around 54'ish
 
If your going NU the best to get is the leadtek. They offer a 256mb version of the card. Most of the time the cards pipes are unlockable and the memory can get pretty close to 1ghz. I know becuase I owned one for a couple of days, before I traded up for the EVGA 6800gt PCIE sli. Anyway this is a bad comparison... The NU can get cloe to gt speeds BUT the Gt can match ultra speeds..

But the NU has more holding it back compared to the GT than the GT compared to the Ultra.

I doubt you could ever achieve stock GT performance with overclocked and unlocked NUs
 
Unfortunately I don't know the exact settings I was playing HalfLife2 with so the GT could have been running at higher AA/AF settings but the resolution was exactly the same. I was also running the NU at stock speeds and pipes.

And no, Im not about to sell my GT for anything.
