dieing hard drive?

What does it sound like, and how long do I have for it to go out since it sounds like a bearing is loose? It started about an hour ago (give or take a little) so I put the side on the case to quiet it.

A dying HD usually makes clicking noises (not to be confused with ticking noises, lol). The clicks are usually loud and not so rapid. Ticking noises are smaller and very rapid = seek noise. There's no telling how long you have before a drive fails. If you hear clicking, backup all your data immediately.
