I was trying to help a buddy update his bios and the damn power kicked off while he was flashing. Now the board won't fire up. I cleared the cmos. Didn't help. Is there anything that can be done at this point?

Sure there is. Replace the BIOS chip on the mobo with a new one. I'll have to dig up the vendor I used last when that happened to me but I think it only cost me about $12 at the time for a BIOS replacement -and it came pre-flashed with the latest revision for my mobo. There are other alternatives such as finding an identical mobo and booting that one, then hot swapping the BIOS chip with the bad one and then re-flashing but the hassle really isn't worth it when it's so cheap to replace them. I'll have to search for that vendor this afternoon and see what I find -unless someone here remembers the place before me.

Don't fret, your motherboard isn't completely lost!

im not sure hotswapping is such a good idea... i would just buy a replacement chip,

that is if the board has a removable bios chip...not many do unless they are high end

What board is it?

Does it have an AMI bios? Reason for asking if it's AMI is there may be a way to fix it if a certain module is in the AMI bios your friends board has...
