Did my PSU die?

So I have been loving my new rig and have been overclocking my Q6600 to 2950mhz and everything was going smoothly.

So I start up steam and my PC shutdown out of know where. I press the power button to start it up again and it dies at the windows loading screen. I try again and it dies before I even see the motherboard startup screen. I let it sit for about 5min and started it again and got into the bios and to reset the settings. I then rebooted and made it into windows. About 15 seconds later it just shuts down out of know where again.

I tried to try my old PSU, but the pins arn't compatible. Is it likely my PSU has died in just 1 day? I thought I got a nice quality one:
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad

Should I RMA?

i'd try testing it with a paperclip (green and black wires) to see if it is still working. sounds like an rma candidate, however, it's possible that it is an overheating issue or something. or Do you have another psu to test it?

Well, I do have the side off my case and it should be getting plenty of air.

I dunno about that paper clip thing. In my old computer it would shutdown just like this and when I tried the paper clip thing it would stay on just fine, but when it was under load on the computer it would die. So I got a new PSU and that problem was solved. The scenario I am having now is just so similar that I would think the PSU is dying.

I can't use my old PSU becuase it doesn't have the new 8 pin connector. I did see that you can use the old 4, but it isn't recommended. But after looking at the connectors, they wouldn't even match.

Well, after trying to disconnect different things like video card, CD drive, HDD, it now dies in about 2 seconds before it can even reach the boot up screen....this is so frustrating.

When you ask for help, we ask you to do things to help us work out the problem.
If you arent going to try them, we cant help.

Tried the paper clip method. It still kept acting weird and dying.

If the PSU is only a day old, I guess you got a faulty unit. Stuff happens, RMA it and hope for the best.

Alright well I am shipping it back to newegg for a replacement. I hope this works. I keep running into more and more problems. As I was trying to install supreme commander, I kept getting "this file does not match this file on the CD" or something like that. I got that same kinda of error on my old comp when I had bad RAM and I ended up RMAing it. I did run memtest and did a single pass with no errors, but sadly I cannot test it now due to on power :(.
