Last night I took apart my machine to clean up the cable routing. When I put it back together I saw that i forgot to connect a chassis fan, so I plugged it in while the machine was running. The fan had a molex connector, not plugged into the mainboard. When I did so there was a small arc and the machine shutoff. I had to unplug the PSU, let it sit a minute and then it restarted, everything looked good. Although now my machine will shutoff after a couple minutes under load. This is usually during games.

PSU in question is an Antec Truepower 2.0 550watt. I'm using an old Ttake for the time being.

I'm trying to RMA it now. I just dont remember if this PSU is eligible for Antec's three year warranty

Wise idea to replace your power supply. I would also keep a close eye on your motherboard for potential damage.

Will do. I havent had any stability problem with the spare PSU though, so I hope I'm ok.

Let's see how good Antec's customer service is.
