Ok, my 8800 GTX OC 768MB vid card bit the dust so I turned it in for a warranty.

They sent me a 9800GTX+ 512MB card. Is this a comparable card?

EDIT: Jeff from BFG called me up and straightened my dumbass out ;)

its a 1 GIG card not a 512!

I went to their site and only saw a 512 card listed but the smell of Friday in the air dulled my already low comprehension skills and I missed it.

Thanks to Jeff for helping me out!

I hope everyone remembers that its not just about the card. Its about the service behind the card!!!

Its also the reason I also bought a 285 BFG card as an update excuse!

My only complaint is that Jeff reminded me I could SLI this card with the 285 and now I'm considering it! lol

Yes. Live with it ;).

PS-just think of it as a gts250 if it makes you feel better.

While the performance charts that I was looking at state the 9800 GTX+ should be a better performer in most applications, it isn't the proper upgrade. There was a mistake made. Please send me your contact details via PM so I can look into this and resolve this issue for you :)

If you can get over the memory difference in your head...

The 9800GTX+ 512MB I think has a better performance except maybe running at very high resolutions - 2560 x 1600 where the extra memory might help, otherwise 9800GTX+ 512MB all the way!

i dont know about you guys, but this post is heartening to me. a rep who pays attention and goes out of his way to help a customer around here gets points in my book

Isnt it cool to have reps around.
My next card has to be a BFG now that I realized how useless EVGA's step up program is. Although I do have one for Physx and its very fast so nice upgrade anyway.
Regards

It was to me too! My only problem now is feeling guilty about my title!

It would be awesome if everything was this way. Something happens and a rep pops in and saves the day.

I've had a BFG card fry on me and I must admit they were awesome. Called them up, no problem, sent me a new one.

Well you can't "SLI" them exactly, but you can install the 9800GTX and dedicate it for PhysX. It should be a great card for that.

It might not give you the biggest performance increase, but will make the overall gaming experience that much better, especially in games that heavily support PhysX:)

I've said over and over BFG is awesome for GPUs.

It's all I buy.

Jeff has helped me more than once.
I also think the BFG Trade-up is excellent, many more choices than the competition.

I'll take any edge I can get!

Thanks Jeff! :D

They treat me so well that I will start using NVidia cards on my next upgrade just to get BFG.
