Did I buy a nice display?

Over three years ago I bought my 24" ultrasharp. I had some money at the time so I wanted a nice big display, having it then was fucking awesome. But I wonder how good it really is. I can tell from experience that its held up daily use for the past 3 years but I didn't know about panel types and color modes etc back then.

My monitor is:
Dell 24" ultrasharp 2407wfp rev a03

I had the same display up until I replaced it with a 2709W about a year ago. What I can tell you about the 2407WFP A03 is that it is a very stable display and the fastest S-PVA ever made. It can run with the slower IPS panals with regard to input lag. Color reproduction is very good because it is not wide gamut. Like all LCD dsiplays it has some flaws the worst of which is black crush. My new display does not have this so video looks much better. The other issue is gamma shift; the 2407 is not the worst I have ever seen, but the newer S-PVA panals have improved in this area as well.

For the time that you bought your 2407WFP you did well. The 24 inch NEC uxi is a better display, but it was and is a lot more money.

Enjoy it

The Dell 2407-wfp is a very good display, well specifically a03 and 04. Good color, viewing angle and you can actually game on it (unlike all of its replacements)

I've enjoyed my A04 2407 over the years. I don't use it for gaming, although the few times I've played on it, the lag was not as bad as the 2405 I had before it. My only real complaint as a work monitor is the black crush. Still better than many of the TN monitors that dominate the market now (but are much cheaper). Text sharpness is also slightly better on some newer monitors.
