Did AMD fix 7770 crossfire microstutter yet?

I have a 7750 that I am going to RMA for a 7770 for only $10 difference and will probably buy another to crossfire soon as the money is available and I can afford a bigger PSU. I read that 7770 pairs are equivalent to a single 7950, but that they suffer from microstutter on certain games. Has AMD solved this yet or is there even a fix for those in the know? thanks

What is your criteria for classifying microstutter as "fixed"?

Any two cards in Crossfire or SLI are still going to exhibit microstutter. This is a problem that hasn't gone away and likely won't for a long time. That being said, both vendors have made significant gains in minimizing the effect over the years.

In addition, opinions vary greatly as to how big of a problem this actually is. On one side of the fence you have people who go ape-shit over anything at all they perceive as microstutter, and on the other side you have people who don't really consider it much of a big deal. I generally fall into the later category. I'm running 2x 4870x2, and these cards are somewhat notorious for microstutter among those who make a big deal about such things. I don't have any problems with it however and it was even subjectively smoother when compared against a 560ti SLI rig running the same games.

I think you really need to try out a configuration like you are considering and make the judgment call for yourself. All of the advice you are going to get here is likely to be too clouded by opinion and bias, including my post.

Ok thanks for clarifying that, I was under the belief that it was an issue specifically with AMD drivers instead of a hardware limitation of dual configurations in general regardless of brand. I'm pretty picky about stutter, spent alot of money on my rig and want the smoothest gameplay possible. Guess my only option is single card

Your best option if you are very sensitive to stutter is a single midrange card. From what I've gathered, low-end CF/SLI combos can work well in certain situations but in taxing games are more prone to showing stutter than faster CF/SLI setups. I've tried GTS 450 SLI and had no issues with it, nor have I ever experienced true microstutter (generally, people lump just about any kind of frame rate change/hiccup into the "MS" category so it adds a lot of misinformation).

The microstutter issues were resolved for kepler but not for southern island.
