Diamond support is terrible

Well I have a 4870X2 that has up and died on me (distored images at the bios screen , green , pink dots , random resets , constantly doing this at random times and I bought a 5870 that works 100 precent fine) and since it is a Diamond branded product (the only one I could find to buy when it was new and popular) I tried to put out a ticket in there online support system. Its been 4 days and I have yet to hear any kind of response , so I decided to call today .. waited 2 hours on hold and never got anyone.

The number I called was a cali number so its in the states .. I'm just tired of not getting any response from these people. My card should still be under warranty and getting ahold of them seems to be impossible. This is more a word of warning to anyone considering buying a Diamond product to steer clear due to there poor customer service :(

1 year warranty. I would never buy a big ticket price diamond, sapphire, or HIS.

2 year warranty standard with the 4870X2 and really I've never had issues like this with any video card I've ever had.

Sorry to hear about your problems. I had a Diamond 4870 and now a 5870 and both have been solid. The fan on the 4870 started to die out, I called them up and they shipped me a new one.

I would try registering your card on their website and shooting them an email.

Yea I did register it online and put in a support ticket (like I said) but after 4 wait no 5 days now I have yet to get a response. My card before my 4870X2 was an 8800 Ultra (EVGA) and they have vastly better customer service.

I'm gonna try again to contact Diamond via phone monday again and post my results. I'm really hoping to get someone on the phone but even if I do I doubt I'll get anyone willing to exchange my card out. This entire experience shows me that Diamond is like HiS or some of the other shady company's that provide a good price but are really just shells of a business with no real customer service to speak of.

Thankfully I got a XFX 5870 from Microcenter for a very good price (360 after tax) and I know XFX has a good rep and lifetime warranty.

i just picked up the asus 5870 over some of the other brands because it has 3 yrs. i still think cards like this should all be lifetime warranties.

Diamond has been on my sh*t list since they gave me a bunch of 'lipservice' during the driver fiasco on the HD2600 Pro. I refuse to ever buy their's or Visiontek products. Horrible experiences with both. Not one 'red' cent of my money will ever be spent with either company..I don't care what they're selling or what price.

I also had to RMA one of my cards with them, it took me 2 weeks to hear back after many MANY tickets and phone calls (and even then gave me a bit of a run around with getting the RMA), turn around time was also pretty bad and the card I received back was very scratched all over the plastic HS cover and the fan and fins had dust all over them, bad enough to where I had to take it all apart to clean it out. I also plan never to buy from them again, sad thing is when I got mine it wasn't even cheaper than the rest, will be buying another brand on the new card I plan on getting soon. Good luck with the RMA.

Oh man , that doesn't make me feel very good :( , I plan to hammer them with calls and tickets on monday .. here is hoping it all works out.

They're customer service is great once you nag enough people about it, call, call twice, post angry message on forums, post angry message on newegg review/hardforum, etc and it'll eventually get done.

i sent in my 4870 1gb to powercolor (diamond) twice, and the second time it went in it was going on 2 months to get back to me, so i kept asking on their new forums where my card was, etc, and i eventually got the card back, and it was brand new, not one of the refurbs they normally send back.

Just an update , still no response to any of my online tickets , there online chat service has been disabled or "offline" for the entire time I've tried to get support. I've called them everyday they were open and after 2 hours on hold ( I wish I was joking) I got no one.

I'm gonna halt my efforts and stop before I lose it . I leave this as a warning to anyone considering a Diamond product DO NOT BUY DIAMOND MULTIMEDIA .. they have the worst tech support I think I've ever encounter in the last 18+ years.

Wow...I didn't even know Diamond Multimedia was still around!

Now I know to stay away from them.

This is not the Diamond Multimedia of old. That company used to make unique and innovative products (back before the 3D revolution), but they eventually went bankrupt. The Diamond name was purchased and resurrected, and they are yet another ATI card rebadger, and a sub-par one at that, IMHO.

And probably one of the worst next to HiS , I'm only buying cards from companies like EVGA,BFG and XFX (well known for great support) from now on.

I feel bad about posting that diamond deal on the 5770 at TD. I really wouldn't recommend diamond under any circumstance. I hate paying a Premium for Evga but they do seem to have the best support after XFX who actually sent me heatsink screws despite me openly admitting having lost mine.

Keep an eye on XFX as well - they are a good company overall and I've bought several products from them for myself and others, but I've read about issues with several of their OC cards, i.e. unstable factor overclocks. Their support is very good though, when I've dealt with them in the past.

Yep, I currently have a Diamond card and I won't be purchasing from them again. The card has been fine however the customer support is non-existent. You have to call and bitch incessantly for months on end to get them to even lift a finger. Because of that I will be only sticking with EVGA, and XFX in the future.

My two 4850's were Diamond brand. I never had any problems with them besides the fact they did not overclock for crap. Luckily I never had to RMA them.
