Hey [H],

My boss came to me with a question yesterday that was out of the ordinary.

He is going to his in-laws this weekend to hook up the 'internet' at their house.

He has given them his old PC..... It was connected via a wireless router to his DSL modem.

All of the equipment worked just fine at this house.

Where he will be setting up his old PC they will have a 56k conventional modem. My gut tells me that there will not be an issue but I just wanted to check with you guys.

Will there be any issues with using a wireless router and a dial-up modem?

Thanks....

:confused:

ya it will work fine.
im assuming its just going to be the 56k modem to the Old pc and no more router.

I am sorry, maybe I have not fully outlined the system config.

PC --> Wireless Router --> Dial-Up Modem

I hope that this helps.

Most likely not..."most" home broadband routers only have an ethernet port. A small handfull of home routers did also have a serial port to connect an external hardware based 56k modem. If you plan on the above setup...I'd look into that first. Going to bet it won't..and will be useless with a dial up.

If the new user hopes to utilize wireless, with dial up....(guessing this is a laptop we're talking about)....there are wireless routers such as WiFlyer which are wireless dial up routers.
