OK way back when I had what I believe to be a problem with my motherboard. To be safe I replaced the MB and my power supply it also damaged my videocard so I ditched that too.
My computer still restarts at random. I'm now tempted to replace everything but I don’t want to spend that sort of cash if I don’t have to. Plus I now question the integrity of every part in my system, as theses restarts can’t be good for anything. Is there a program or another way to find out what’s causing these shutdowns and or testing my individual components?

There's not really one single program that will check for you but your best bet is to download a couple of utilities like memtest86 for your ram, motherboard moniter to see if your PS voltages are right and possibally sisoft sandra and run its individual benchmarks to see if it craps out on certain components and you might wanna get the dos tools from whoever makes your hard drives to check those if you wanna go the software way but theres really nothing better than just starting to swap components if you have some old stuff laying around

have you checked the case and cpu temps around when it shutsdown? Hows your cable layout and heatsink?

I used the super sophisticated ‘stick my hand on the back of the power supply’ method. I didn’t seem to be running hot at all. My cable layout is crap as it’s always been, I try to compensate for this by having five fans.
I use to be able to run much hotter than it gets in my new place and didn’t have trouble until I tried to run doom 3 during a heat wave with no AC. Ideally I’d like to get back to that level of stability though I’d never actually do that again.
I’ll try those programs when I get home, thanks venom.
