i'm going to be building a computer and i was wondering if there were any programs that could tell me if everything is working properly and the parts are all fully functional. i know sometimes parts look like they are working at first then die in 2 months. Thanks!

Looping 3dmark or Aquamark3 runs will stress your gpu, while looping prime, (as many instances as you have cores), will stress your cpu.. The Sysoft Sandra suite has utilities to test just about everything.. But even if you run that stuff without issue, hardware can still just die 2 months later for no apparent reason.. Because shit happens..

Run memtest for 8 continuous loops (run it before going to bed), and if it doesn't fail, chances are your rams will be ok for some times. Like the poster above me said, shit happens. It takes one misfire, and your system's dead in water.

A static charge, a surge, bad grounds, poorly lapped heatsink, malfunctioning fans..anything can happen

The best diagnostic tool IMO is user experience. If you install your operating system and drivers properly and have no bad experiences with your computer, then it's pretty much ok. Check your Device Manager to ensure drivers are installed. Check your manufacturer's forum if you expereicne anomalites before declaring a part dead or a failure.

Memtest is definitely a good tool to run to check the RAM.
Along with Memtest, you should also do a full test with a DFT (Drive Fitness Test) program such as Hitachi DFT or SeaTools.

A really good program that will test all of this for you and do multiple burn in tests is (PC-Check) by Eurosoft, but it's not free.
