Hi everyone,

Im new to the boards, so hoping to learn a lot. This is my first time overclocking, but I’ve done a good amount of hw.

So here goes. My system specs:

E6600 C2D 2.4
Gigabyte DS3 rev 3.3
2gb crucial ballistix ddr2 800 4-4-4-12
corsair hx 520 w power supply
zalman 7700

So here’s the story:

using one of the common overclocking guides online, I made all necessary changes to bios, which was easy enough.

And as far as overclock settings, I started out with FSB: 306 with a MULT: 8, which was barely an increase at all, giving me a speed of 2.45 GHz. With those settings I set DIMM overvoltage to +.2 and the MCH to +.1 as suggest in the tutorial. My Vcore was automatically at 1.35V and so I left it.

Failed p95 tests within couple of mins, my CPU or Tcase temp went right to 70, and my cores went to around 65. I tried bumpin up vcore to 1.365 but still same result.

Then I went back to the bios and changed only the FSB and MULT back to normal at FSB 266, MULT: 9, and put the overvoltages back to “normal”. Everything else stayed as it was.

P95 tests failed again, no difference.

Now I know my zalmann is no good, but its at least as good as stock, and I mean, it can’t even handle ANY overclock or even handle P95 under normal conditions?

Can anyone tell me what the issues might be? Even before I invest in another fan, I have a feeling there is something even more wrong than just the fan here.

below are some images of my bios settings for NORMAL speeds, that still failed p95

Would greatly appreciate input.

Thanks!
