Diablo 3 to Consoles

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I do look forward to the PC version though.

I understand dipping into that huge console market, but I hope us, the PC fan base, don't get the short end of the stick. If anything the Consoles need to suffer and feel the PC port; not the other way around (I don't think this is the case, but I hope PC support still remains the focus.)

Blizzard games have never been taxing on the system, so there probably won't be a huge compromise in visual quality as one might think. As for gameplay, it's about as straightforward as its predecessors so there isn't much to lose to begin with.

There's no secrets out here, Blizzard has always been 100% open to all the platforms as long as they're capable of delivering the experience they want, and that's been their generic response for years. I think they even talked about having a console team during Blizzcon.

It's just an isometric clickfest, there isn't anything keeping it from going console anyway. It's not like it's an in depth RTS or anything.

Explains the delay in announce date. They want to get as many PC pre-orders as possible before they officially announce console's and piss us off.

I wonder if all platforms will have access to the same auction house.

Nothing new, Diablo was on the Playstation in the mid 90's. It was the same exact game and it had co op.

I'm a pc gamer through and through but honestly this is the kind of click fest (or button) game that would work well on consoles I think so it only makes sense...

If they could offer cross-platform gameplay without making any sacrifices to the pc version, i'd be cool with that :D

It's never been "confirmed" until now though, if a twitter post from an employee counts. I'm still keeping an eye out for the formal announcement, but this was an unusually straightforward confirmation from Bashiok.

This is the reason for the delay. I called it 2 years ago.

They just recruited console developers to start working on it, I wouldn't be surprised if the console version ships over a year later than the PC version.

Fucking consoles

QFMFT. Not like I care... it's going to basically be an MMO anyway, so meh. From everything i've heard, it is going to be one HUGE fucking grind.

Not that it matters, I have too many friends that are going to play this so i'm pretty much obligated :(

Sweet, I think kicking back with a console controller suits this type of game much better than the CLICKCLICKCLICKCLICKCLICKCLICKCLICKCLICKCLICK I was going to endure playing on a PC.

Also this probably means the PC version will get native XBox 360 controller support, so PC gamers can save their clicking fingers, w00t.

Local co-op on Diablo 1 for the PS1 was awesome, so this could be a lot of fun as well.

Not excited or angry about this. It means nothing to me.

However I since they are releasing on consoles why not Ipad and cellphones. I was taking a look at the xperia-s it has a 720p screen plenty enough for Diablo3.

Diablo3 whiles taking a shit sounds pretty good to me, assuming diablo 3 is any good.

Im kinda glad since Id rather use a game pad, but the console release is gonna be way later and I need that game asap.

MS no longer allows games on console XBox Live to interface with any servers outside of the console XBox Live wall.

I figured that xbox 360 would be left out of the equation. Ps3 to PC would be do-able though.

Was the Playstation version good or bad? I never played it... PC version was godlike.

I'm not sure what to think about this. I was so hyped for D3 but the more I look into it, it seems like a 1-player version of WoW. Wasn't there a big petition to make it "darker" and not such a replica of WoW out there?

I wonder if the PS3 version is going to allow single player and offline mode. That would sure make some of those unhappy people with the always-connected gameplay happy.

This. Not a surprise, not a big deal.

It was pretty good IMHO. I had Diablo on both PC and PS1 to play with my friends who didn't have a PC at the time. You had to share the same screen in co-op if I remember correctly but it was ultimately the same game and easy to play on a controller.

Not really a big deal, I don't expect it to affect the gameplay of our PC version. Although I'm a little concern that it may divide the community, which means lesser players on PC to play with, trade stuff or whatever.

Would be great if both platform could play together.

I didn't like the PS1 version of Diablo I never could get used to the controller for that game. That being said you can always get keyboard mouse for PS3.

If all platforms share the same auction house and Blizzard gets the real-money microtransactions thing working, there will be a crapload of money to be made off console players.

Even if they don't share action houses as long as the console version has an auction house its going to make bank.

and I can't imagine blizzard not using the auction house to sell items themselves like a Christmas sword or Jew boots for the holidays so they get the entire cut.

I hope this game is good and at the same time if blizzard gets too greedy I hope they crash and burn.

If D3 was being developed and released on console first, I would probably raise an eyebrow.

The gameplay mechanics of Diablo has always been relatively simplistic and there is no reason why it couldn't be perfectly functional on consoles without compromising the PC version.
