DFI UT Cooling for its layout....

I am getting a DFI UT board, the layout can be seen here . The chipset is very poorley cooled, so I am getting a zalman nb heatsink to cool it. With my ATI silencer on my 9800pro, do you think they will interfeer at all? I honestly think it will.


Also I need a new heatsink for my a64 setup. Appartnely with my cpns7000alcu I have to use a blowdryier to rip the backing plate of, which I am not gonna do for a mobo that I am watiing 2 weeks to ship.

Any suggestions?

I was thinking about getting a sp94 and a tornado or a silenx, but my fan controler only has low of and high.
 
If I were you, I would stick a temperature sensor on the chipset and experiment first. The board is so new, and I wouldn't go spending the time and money on additional chipset cooling until you're sure it needs it. This way, you can install the 9800 pro with the Silencer and see for yourself how much clearance there will be. But I don't think there will be enough room either. Or maybe you could shave some off of the new chipset heatsink...

As for the CPU cooling. The installation of the Zalman 7000 was in part what chaged my mind to a Thermalright XP-90 for the s754 system I'm putting together soon. I'll probably get a Panaflo fan for it.
 
My DFI UT nf3 250gb just arrived today, I've got it sitting about 4 feet away from me taunting me as I'm stuck at work for another 4 hours. A quick look at the zalman passive northbridge cooler seems to indicate a need for a lot of headroom, which you probably won't have with the silencer (the southbridge chip starts about 1cm overlapping the end of the agp card, offset about another 1cm south). If it did fit, it would be extremely close.

edit: anandtech seemed to get pretty decent results with the stock passive heatsink, although they mentioned it got somewhat hot. I was looking for a replacement part myself, something with a small fan (similar to what the gigabyte k8npro has on it's southbridge).
