DFI Ultra-D NF4 problem

I have had this board for two days. Initally I was running at 300Mhz FSB, 2.7Ghz. It couldn't complete a reasonable amount of prime95, so I updated the bios and clocked it back a bit. Now I can't seem to get it to run anything other than 200Mhz FSB. I have switch to the old bios (backed it up). But still it crashed when loading windows, but it crashes at the exact same point whether I am running 310Mhz FSB or 210Mhz FSB. Anyone have any idea what might be wrong, the board is only 2 days old so I still have warranty and free RMA shipping, if nothing else I can return it.

System specs:
DFI NF4 Ultra
3000+ (90nm)
Thermalright xp-90
Geforce 6600 (running stock ATM)
2 WD raptors in Raid 0
 
Generic Samsung PC3200 TCC4 chips. However I am setting the ram multiplier so they stay at or under 200Mhz.
 
I have a dfi nforce 3 gb, The best place to find info about Dfi boards is dfi-street.com. They have a couple dfi tech's that answer questions etc. I love hardocp but for mb on dfi check that place out. Sorry can't help you with your board.
 
you bought DFI, you rolled the dice, you took your chances.

three phrases that mean the same thing as far as i am concerned.

and now you are thinking about returning a product that hits specified speed, but does not OC as well as you would like.

i think that i see a problem with this situation, and it's not just the computer.

you have not yet provided any of the detailed info that is needed to help troubleshoot a problem like this.

voltages? what bios were you using? how did you flash? what did you flash to? what were and are your memory settings? what PSU are you using? have you cleared the CMOS? did you back things off to stock settings before flashin?

the answers to these questions and more will most likely be needed for some a64 using member to give you some real help.

myself, i only know a32 at this point, so even if i was inclined to help you, i couldn't say much about specific settings.
 
maybe someone at the DFI Street Forum could solve your problem or at least give you some ideas.

but as for me, I just recently tried that A64 stuff with a DFI Ultra-D board and it was too damn complicated for me.

all them multiplier, HTT, FSB and memory ratios to set was just too damn ridiculous to fool with.

my P4 stuff is sooooo much easier to "set it and forget it" unlike that AMD stuff.

oh well, to each their own I guess.
 
I have the same board, check to make sure that your ram is not running 2 hot, at stock voltage my ram in this nf4 was almost to hot to touch and on a a7n8x it was cool to the touch.
After sticking a fan on my ram I got 260 cl2 with no trouble, stable... if you have further questions feel free to email me at sixxx at comcast dot net
