Hey guys ive been having freeze ups and computer lag sometimes playing games specially BattleField 2. I know what the problem is but i dont know how to fix it. My ram Timings are wrong and unstable big time. I tryed the DFI forum but only one guy replied and he didint know. Does anyone know what correct timings are for my ram? this is my ram

2x512 Corsair 3200 Xtream low lantancy tss

i dont want to go and buy new ram ..

Just use the "set optimized defaults" and the motherboard will get the proper timings from the RAM itself.

WRONG...do not speak unless you know what your talking about...his mobo wont even boot with the default settings...DFI boards are super picky about ram timings....if anyone else has a DFI nf4 board and corsair xms tccd ram then please help this man by giving him your complete timings

Using optimal settings is a bad idea, certain ram need certain settings.

What timings have you tried running?

exactly...weve got it somewhat stable using these timings which are similar to the settings used with my tccd but its not as stable or fast as it could be (by the way me and him are good friends thats how i know this)...

Yes from experience with the board I can say you need to put in every single option from the RAM manually.

I just went directly to OCZ support in my case and that got me running, maybe you should talk to the RAM GUY from Corsair.

Im pretty sure Ive seen topics with this RAM in the dfi-street forums.

Um, I have a DFI nf4 board. I'm typing this on one right now! The board boots just fine with the default RAM timings, and using "set optimized defaults" sets the timings exactly to what is specified on the box for my RAM.

I can't even imagine a board that wouldn't boot with default timings. Such a board would be just plain defective...

dont talk out of ignorance...i built this guys machine and with two sticks of memory put in and the defaults set it will not boot...you have to put in one stick, boot and configure then save, shut down, insert the second stick, and then reboot

I have corsair low latency ram, tccd 2-2-2-5, loading opitmized defaults gave me 2-3-2-5 timings, i changed the 3 to 2 and no problems. So from my experience, loading optimized defaults will allow me to boot into windows with 100% stability, so take it easy on your bashing of that person who recommended loading defaults. Maybe you don't understand cell_491, that each computer is different, you really need to chill out, who gives a shit if you built the system.

tack up another for me, exact same ram, exact same result. Used default worked fine, changed the 3 to 2 and no problems. It varies case to case, just because group A had this problem and Group B had this problem doesn't mean it applies to everyone. Talk about someone having a bad day

same here--booted right up , installed XP

all at default with 4 sticks of crappy inferion-- default settings and default voltage.

What ignorance? I own the damn board! If you memory doesn't work by default, either the memory or the board is defective (I'm guessing the memory). A given module should ALWAYS run at its SPD timings, if it doesn't, then you should RMA it. A given one might run faster than what its SPD says, but only defective ones won't run at its advertised speed.

well im telling you it wont even boot at the default settings and you ignoring that fact therefore you are being ignorant by the definition of the word

Wow, rereading this thread made me more angry than the first time. I think you owe a couple people an appology cell_491.

By the way, did you try flashing the bios.. if you already did please dont bite my head off cell_491.

im mad at the guy cuz after i already told him the board wont boot with the default settings he insists on saying use the default settings...well guess what THEY DONT WORK. now about the bios yes i did flash the bios it was the first thing i did i used the 6-28 bios which is reccomended by DFi for the X2 processor. I know i look like an asshole but its annoying when people insist on giving incorrect advice...you do not have this guys system and certain things will allways be different like for instance he has to use the yellow slots instead of the orange slots because his heatsink will not allow the first dimm to be used and as any dfi nf4 user knows the yellow slots are a hell of alot more picky than the orange slots. also people keep saying they have the same "exact" ram...just because its corsair xms 2x512mb rated at 2-2-2-5 doesnt mean they are the same ram, his happen to be tccd sticks which are again uber pickey about timings but corsair used other types for the same ram i think they used BH5 once as well wich will work alot differently

try 7/04. my corsair twinx2048-3200C2 would boot fine but was way unstable.. i installed 7/04 bios and it works GREAT now... it also lowered my voltage by 0.3v too... running 2.5-2-2-6-7 1T command rate (although 2-2-2-6-7 worked fine before).

be SURE ot check out the bug on the 7/04 bios before you install it, it COULD kill your processor if you adjust the voltage improperly.

ill check it out for him...im not sure if its worth risking it though

Well it wont start with some RAM for default in a perfectly working MOBO and RAM, the motherboard is really picky at default settings, just read the stuff at the dfi forums.

Both sides are right at least for some part, but saying that the board is defective just because it wont boot at auto settings has something to do with ignorance lol.

Anyways if the official bios dont work, try the latter like the 618-2 bios worked wonderfully for my setup.

I don't doubt that your board won't boot at default settings. But that's not what you said. You said "DFI boards are picky about RAM, blah blah blah..." DFI boards are picky about RAM if you're tweeking them, but if the thing isn't booting stock, your RAM is BROKEN! "Load optimized defaults" not working has absolutely nothing to do with DFI boards being picky about timings, and everything to do with the fact that you should RMA your memory.

please refrain from speaking...noob

Did you just call me a "noob"? What are you, 13? The reason I'm saying to RMA your memory is that it's probably rather marginal. The Lanparty might be a tweekers motherboard, but its still a commercial product, and does follow the proper standards. That means it reads the SPD correctly and sets the timings accordingly. If the RAM doesn't work at its SPD settings, that means it can't handle timings as tight as advertised, which means that you're not getting what you paid for.

If you don't want to take my advice, fine. Have fun beating your head over the problem instead of solving it the easy way. I couldn't care less. Serves me right for trying to help someone dumb enough to buy "low latency" RAM...

there is nothing wrong with the ram so shut your hole...each stick passes memtest individually but wont boot while together which if you go to dfi-street.com youll will notice is very common and is due to the memory not being correctly set up it has nothing to do with the ram being damaged

The only complaints I see on dfi-street.com are from people using sketchy RAM. Low latency crap that likely can't handle the timings that they're advertising in the SPD. I never see someone post "My two sticks of Kingston won't work". Again, the solution is to not buy crappy RAM.

Wow your a complete noob...and you showed it earlier too

you ARE aware that low latency ram is generally higher quality ram (its considered enthusiast memory it most circles) and that the lower the latency the faster the ram is, please read about something before you open your mouth ...in toher words "low latency"= good..."high latency"=bad

Exact same situation, using 7/04 BIOS

guess what all you nay sayers...we found the correct timings and everything runs PERFECT...what then what then
