I am considering buying this MB, I have read many reviews and am somewhat impressed by the kudos that they give it. Nevertheless I must get the approval of my fair bretheren in [H]ard Forum, with your eternal wisdom and sacrifice, to guide my noobness to the light.
 
Shouldn't be a bad choice...might as well go all the way and pop for the LanParty NF4 UltraD.
 
I got one last weekend with an Opty 165. Some initial thoughts I shared with a buddy yesterday.

Layout is nice, but the nforce4 cooler looks very very small, and loud. I have a vantec iceberq I'll mount in a few weeks though. Didn't want to make changes to the board incase I had to rma it

Windows setup was easy - didn't install the nvidia firewall though (had problems with that on another machine) but nearly everything else is onboard.

The only con to the board so far is that both pci-e slots run at 8x all of the time, there's no way to switch them to a 16x/1x configuration (that I've been able to find, anyway.) I'm not worried as there's no performance difference between 8x and 16x, but it has been the only suprise so far.

Overclocking is a dream come true. With the Opty 165 I first played with the FSB with a low multiplier to keep the cpu at 1.8ghz. I went 225, 250, 275 and am now at 300mhz without bumping the nforce voltage. I increased the multiplier to 8x and am now running at 2.4ghz with a cheap Venus 7+ cooler (going to get a better one soon.) Temps are 60 under load, and it was prime stable for 21 hours. With the case side back on, under the desk.

I was worried that the board would hold me back with the Opty only having a 9x multi, but it looks like 2.7Ghz might be in reach. Not bad for a 'value' board. I only have crap generic ram, so am on a divider to keep it at 200MHZ for now. I had to set the ram voltage to 2.7v in bios, which is what the ram was rated for. It was being set to 2.6v and gave me a couple of reboots.

The bios has almost all of the options that the LanParty boards do, except for built-in memtest and being able to save 4 different configs. I think the Lanparty has more memory divider options, but the infimity has a whole screen of memory timing settings - more than I could ever use. I already have enough cables that I didn't need the ones with the LanParty, and don't care about the onboard sound either.

If I was doing this over, I'd probably go for the Infinity Ultra to get a true 16x pcie slot (no real plans for sli yet) and hopefully similar overclocking results while saving $30. Techno-lust got the better of me while I was ordering though.
