Nothing but problems with my new system(see below) from the get go. First damn thing wouldnt boot. HD issues. Fixed. Then crashing(BSOD's) during windows install. Switched out ram(same ram just older model...dont ask why it worked). No more crashes. Got windows up and running. Started installing drivers. On top of specs below I have a AverTV tuner card. So audigy 2 in one PCI slot and Tv Tuner in the other. Anyways. Upon installing Video card, system no longer wishes to boot into windows. Fine, safe moded it and uninstalled drivers(omega's radeon- newest) and installed Ati's latest...nope same problem. Restarted computer without any drivers on video card, everything works fine, tv runs, sound works, but the damn video card doesnt. Man this computer is a nightmare. Taking me about 2 weeks to get everything together.
RMA'ed the vid card back to newegg recently(love their service) for other issues-artifacting in windows load up screen as well as mobo load up screen. I thought it was an IRQ conflict, and it may still be. But honestly at this point I dont know what to do, thinking about getting rid of this damn motherboard as well. Would love some insight from you guys on this setup and other thoughts. Thanks.

Ok what SATA do U have Ure HDD on?
What BIOS are U running?
What PSU do U have?
Did U install the nVidia IDE drivers?
Are those the Value Rams?
Are U memtest stable?

Have U been to dfi-street? :D

those posts are from months ago, most of this has been sorted out, and originated from extreme memory overvolting. Though there were other "cold boot" issues, they are very isolated, and were fixed in the 6/18 bios. I would go to DFI street and get help there. I assume you are running everything at stock? Have you updated the bios to the latest version, and matched it according to your memory? Are you sure you don't have timings set wrong?

Using most recent bios like i said...comp is working fine now in terms of stability. Right now I cant get it to post with Vid card drivers installed..

Ok U need to goto one of the Beta BIOSes since Ure running a SD...

I myself have a Winnie so I dont know which I think U might want to try 510-3 tho but check it out @dfi-street.

Set your SATA at SATA port 3 or 4.

I guess U mean Prime stable when U say stable and then Your memory isn't a problem

U want to roll the nVidia ID-drivers back to the windows default, the nV drivers screw Your system up. Also be sure to use a driveer-cleaner afterwards.

Ok try the vidcard in the other PCI-E slot.

Is that a 24 pin PSU and do U have all 4 cables connected?

And U definatly Don't have the Cold Boot issue.

i would go to rebels haven and get bios 618-003 beta and flash it with the award flashed.

-- try to get a 618 beta or higher with the correct number for the ram your useing 03's are for tccd--but i have found they work well with inferion as well.

but this bios fixed my issues with the lanparty. it is now super stable and overclocks like a rat-fink fiend!

if your computer has a good PSU-ram and everything else--you may just have a bad MB and should RMA . what DFI street ain't gonna tell you is that they have had a bunch of RMA's with these nf4 mbs . and it is just lack of QC . the last batch of these MB that i got were pertty good--so they seemed to fix the problems .after the bios update to 618 that is.

try the new beta bios though--and let us know if it fixxed the problems.

might try RMA'ing while i still have the chance...gonna give newegg a call tomorrow, maybe flash the mobo as well. Try some stuff out.

The psu uses 20+4 pin connector(the 4 pin is an adaptor, basically one end plugs into another plug then goes into mobo -> that came with the psu)

As far as hooking SATA to port 3 or 4, makes no useful sense.

As far as Nforce drivers go, those are needed for the onboard LAN im using. Otherwise I havent heard too many people say anything bout them.

this is just a hunch-- but what PSU are you useing and what are the rateings for watts >??

NF'4's and DFI's in praticular seem to hate generic PSU's

my MB was unstable on the bios it shipped with and it hated inferion ram --after the update to 618 beta--it is stable as a rock --even overclocked .

if you got a generic(psu) with low volts on the 12v and low amps-- can cause all kinds of problems

Hmm I just meant the IDE drivers...

And the SATA 3- and 4 have proven to be more reliable then 1 & 2 especially when overclocking the SATA 1 & 2 might make your computer go into a reboot loop and they also sometimes loose the HDD requireing a CMOS reset and BIOS settings Reload to find them again.

I think that the -1 BIOSes are for BH chips tre -2 BIOSes are for TCCD and the -3 BIOSes are supposed to be a combo... But Im not 100% on this. Ull have to read the Stickies @DFI-street to find out.

switch to port 3 or 4 on the SATA as advised, its onboard but not on the chipset, so if the chipset is bum, the sata on 1 &2 could be fooked

also, the heatsink on that sapphire card is a tosser -_- if you can, throw an ATI silencer on it and see if it boots with drivers

and MAKE SURE NOTHING ELSE is in the powerline with the GFX card

if that doesnt fix the issues RMA the board and try again -_-

I'd take a guess at the nVidia IDE drivers. When you run the nVidia integrated driver package, you will be asked if you want to install the "nVidia SW IDE Drivers". These screw all 3 of my mobo's over everytime (NF3250gb, NF3 Ultra, NF4-Ultra D) so I've given up on it.
The increased performance they promise is virtually nonexistent anyway....

well i have built a number of these ultra d's

out of a batch of 10 i had two DOA's-- not excatly a wonderful ratio but not the worst i have seen either.

if you got a good board--even with the "shipped" bios it shouldn't be that flakey.

if your power supply is good , your cpu is good, your ram is good and your videocard is good
and your harddrives are good--and you updated the bios-- then their not much else to do but go RMA.

a flakey board is worse than a DOA in a lot of ways,

the DFI has a reputation for being difficult--but outside of a bios update i haven't found them to be much more difficult than an ASUS or any other NF4mb.. i haven't gotten any flakey DFI's yet--but from the problems i keep hearing about--there has to be a number of them out --in spite of what they'll you on DFI street. :) :)

Ok, are you guys reading the posts?
The HD's are all posting. No problems there.
Some problems were worked around(different ram being used).
Second, Im not even overclocked.
Third the vid card was being watercooled, so its not the stock heatsink.
Either way that card is being Rma'ed-it was a bad refurb anyway. Now I need to remove my ramsinks off it, no clue how.
The only issue right now is that once the vid card is installed, meaning its drivers, the computer doesnt load into windows(or it does, i just cant see, the signal is bad).
