I had a Chaintech Zenith, which I killed. Now, I would like to overclock and be able to lower (and raise maybe) the multiplier. Does the motherboard unlock it? I know there is some prodoct out there that unlocks the multiplier for me. Anyone have that link? It just fits on the socket, and then the processor fits on the thing. I assume it takes place of putting loops of wire around pins. So I want to get the Lanparty, but overclocking is a big thing, Is this what I want?

Mr Bill,

i haven't heard of the thing you put on the cpu to unlock it, some [H]arder members probably know what you are talking about though =)

the BIOS on the LanPartyB NF2 allows changing of multipliers on 'unlocked' cpu's (something like all those made before week 34 but don't quote me on the week #, again [H]ard members will know which week to look for). If your cpu is manually unlocked by closing bridges etc then the BIOS will allow changing of multipliers also.

I assume you already have a locked AthlonXP =)

as for overclocking...LanParty board is one of the top overclockers ;)

lol Oskar hit 281FSB on the board but we aren't supposed to talk about that for the simple reason of people will expect theirs to hit 281FSB 1:1 without realising that Oskar is the designer of the board (and CMOS Reloaded) and worked for Abit for many years designing their top boards so he better damn well be able to hit some insane, higher-than-anyone-else speed lol =)

thx barnaby for that link!

guarantee you within a week 20 of the amdmb dfi forumers will have this and let me know how well it works =)

Alright, now that ive looked, and decided on this motherboard. I read the review
http://www.lostcircuits.com/motherboard/dfi_nfii_ultrab/

Now, they replace the passive coolers with heatsink/fans. How do I do this? Id rather go legit and use the existing mounts (assuming its on the 2 corners with the plastic pins that fit into the motherboard). Is there a good website that sells stuff like this?

you can find most anything you need on frozencpu.com.. I pretty much get all my mods from them now, as they're customer service has been overly good to me when I had a problem with a couple of items (damn UPS)...

also if the extras and color of the lan party is a turn off you can get the dfi infinity that is the same board just toned done color wise and has less goodies in the box. both the lanbarty revb and the infinity are the best boards to hit 250fsb out of the box. the chaintech lets you change multis if you download the latest bios the bios that ships on the chaintech has the multi selction locked out

If you are having troubles, the speedstrip SSA-1 supposedly works too for unlocking procs. I haven't tried it myself, as my abit boards have never let me down in that department. The DFI does just fine as well, so I don't know if this can fix it if the board can't do it, but here is the link anyway. May be worth a try for 15 bucks!

mostly true.

You can cut bridges & join bridges to 'super unlock' and then change multipliers through software, although reports are saying it doesn't work on nf2 boards, but i havne't tried it myself (yet)

so Angry_Games, do u get any type of discount on DFI products?
*hint* *hint* ;)

Wow,

I just bought this mobo with a AMD Athlon Xp 2700+ 333fsb.

It owns I hopped it up from 2.17 to 2.5 with ease.

if 'free' is a discount then i'm surely guilty. I've not had to buy a mobo or cpu or RAM for almost 6 months =)

hey, are the infinities just lan party boards with out the uv effect and the overall package?

Baker: yep, no Gigabit lan either (only one 10/100 lan port).

other than that...same board!
