I purchased this DFI motherboard, and I've been trying my best to overclock the FSB - but having absolutely no luck.

My setup:

DFI Lan Party UT RDX200
(2) 1GB Sticks of OCZ Platinum DDR 500 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227224)
AMD FX-60
Enermax Liberty 620W PSU

I have absolutely no problem cranking up the multipler on the FX-60 to run it at 14.5 x 200 = 2.9Ghz. However, if I turn down the multiplier to say 12, I can't even get 220Mhz out of the FSB. I'm running the OCZ at 3-3-2-7 1T. I've tried turning the DRAM voltage up to 2.8v, but that has not produced any results.

Am I doing anything wrong? I'd really like to run this system at a 250Mhz FSB and a multipler of 11.5.

Here's some data from CPU-Z:

I did some more research and found that there is very little benefit to increasing memory bandwidth, except for high memory benchmarking scores. Would it be accurate to say that I'd be better served by keeping my FSB at 200Mhz and trying to tighten up my memory timings? I'm looking to maximize game performance.

I think AMD systems do run a bit quicker off of tighter timings rather than sheer memory speed

Cool. Is there any trick to getting tighter timings? Does increasing voltage help?

Here's some of my settings to get a pretty good overclock on air from a X2 4400 and 2x 1Gb Crucial Ballistix on the RDX200:

This is a little out of date as I have changed some settings to get crossfire to run smoothly. The above is prime and memtest stable, but changing the CAS to 2.5 bombs memtest but runs fine otherwise! Your also have different components to me so there will be some alterations.

I managed to get a max FSB of 375Mhz, but was with loose timings, severly down-clocked cpu (x6 multiplier) and mem voltage of 2.8V. I found I had to bring it down quite a bit for a good speed on the cpu and tight timings. I also noticed there are some settings that this board doesn't like being left at auto. A lot of trial and error! Do a bit of searching on DFI-Streets, you might be lucky and get someone there to help you.

More importantly, be sure to read eclipse's guide to oc'ing and the OC stickies here, helped me out a bundle and pushed to get really tight timings. And remember, CPU speed is king!

Good luck!
