Strange Problem here. I have a new x850 that I just put in my box. I cleaned out all the previous drivers with drive cleaner. Installed the most up to date Catalyst Drivers (not the control center) then installed ATITOOLS .24 beta 14 (crashed every time i tried to run it) installed the older ATITOOLS .24 and that worked fine.

But after the drivers were installed in the Device Manager there are no entries in the video card area but under Unknown are 2 entries for the x850 neither of which have the yellow ! but look like a normal enabled entries.

Any ideas? system seems fine but is a little flaky (lock ups) compared to before which I am guessing is the strange driver setup.

Should I use older drivers? Different install procedure?

Thanks

Try this, boot up into safe-mode and open up Device Manager, right-click your x850 entries and choose delete (or uninstall, not sure wich one pops up)

This should cause your video card to be uninstalled and when you re-boot into normal mode again the drivers should be automaticly reinstalled.

If that doesn't work get Driver Cleaner Pro here and follow the readme instructions and then reinstall the drivers.

Also, do you have any other cards installed in the pci slots? If so make sure they don't use the same IRQ-adress as the video card. If so just move the pci card to another slot.

Hope that helps a bit. :)

Thanks for the reply, I had already booted into safe mode ran Drive Cleaner Pro and cleared out everything as well as deleted all the Video card entries. Rebooted and cancelled out of the auto detect then installed the most up to date drivers. Rebooted and looked in the Device Manager and saw the x850 and x850 secondary under Unknown but with no yellow just the standard entry and it works fine. It is like windows recognizes them and the drivers for them but does not know they are display drivers but an unknown. Really strange.

Tried the cleaning and reinstalling three times with the same result, even cleared out all the ghost drivers from the Device manager just to make sure.
