Detecting Drives...please wait...

When restarting or starting my computer up it hangs on "Detecting drives, please wait..." It hangs for like 15-20 seconds and boots. I was wondering if there is a way to solve this from taking so long. Specs are in my sig. I have a Pioneer 108 DVD Drive. Would this be causing the problem?

I would double check the jumper settings first. Make sure you have them set to the correct settings. What hard drive do you have? SATA or PATA? I had a Maxtor SATA drive that would take about 15 seconds to recognize on a cold boot when I used the old style 4 pin power connector (restart it wouldn't take long at all), but as soon as I started using the SATA power lead it would be recognized right away.
