Hi i have a asus crosshair 3 formula and in the last 3 days i am having a hard time booting the lcd display says "detect ram locked" when it gets to loging screen if it manages to boot it somtimes freezes the temps are fine

first thing that comes to mind is a bad stick of ram...try booting with one stick and see...also run memtest....kinda hard to isolate without just trying stuff....pain in the ass code....
what kind of ram u running? how much ram....did u set settings up in bios or on auto...man im thinking this is a bad stick of ram....could be mobo but id fool with ram sticks first...plus ram usually blows a blue screen when u have a bad stick....

Corsair XMS3 CMX6GX3M3A1600C9 the bios is on auto all ways has been just started getting this error yesterday DET RAM LOCKED pc has been running fine since i replaced the graphics card was good for 3 days then this :(
I am running memtest now i guess i will need to do at least 6 times.

reseat graphics card and install a different ati driver maybe a slightly older driver..maybe 2 back from what u have or if your not running the latest try the latest...kinda funny its only since video card installed...if all else fails install the previous vid card and see...maybe a bad video card?
didnt realize just started with video card change...ive seen bad video card checker board the display before taking the system down...also seen like chinese writing appear before lock up....
ati has had wierd problems with drivers from time to time..this is known...just makes me wonder if the video card is faulty...you know...

what mhz in bios should CM3X2G1600C9 ddr3 be on becuase i cant find it any more on corsair site,

800mhz
1066mhz
1333mhz
1600mhz?

Thanks

Yes i no its ddr3 1600 but everest says it should run at 800mhz

@ 800 MHz 9-9-9-24 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) / 41-88-2-6-12-6-6 (RC-RFC-CR-RRD-WR-WTR-RTP)

thaths why i am getting confussed i thought dropping it down to 800mhz in bios might stop the det ram issue i have run memtest for 6 hrs with no errors

Hi, mactabilis1,

The 800MHz is correct as the RAM is "Double Data Rate", i.e. DDR.

Chuklr

Edit: Had "brain fart" and stated "Dual" rather than "Double" ... :D ... so I fixed it.
