I was having random reboots and my cpu was running at 65 degrees. I applied too much thermal paste the first time I installed my heatsink and cpu. When I went to remove the heatsink the cpu was ripped out of the socket. I tried reinstalling the cpu and heatsink and the computer would not power on. Then I noticed the pins were misaligned and I damaged while attempting to re-align them. Is the processor the only thing damaged here? What caused the random reboots and overheating?

well probably the heatsink wasnt sitting flat on the cpu core.

usually all you fry in these cases is the processor, but there is a slim chance you tore something on the socket up or fried something on the mobo... you may want to find a friend to test his proc with it... or something... I really don't know what to recommend here.
