I'm not sure where this question belongs, but this seemed like the most fitting place.

I am looking for suggestions on a new desk that I should get. I want it to be under $150... even under or around $100, if possible. It's got to be somewhat spacy so I have enough room to do other work on it. L shaped desks aren't out of the picture. Thanks for any help! :)

If your handy with tools you could build it. There are plans galore if you search google or you can design your own. I've found that industry does not meet my desires in lots of ways and have resorted to building my own things. That and theres the sense of pride that comes with saying "I made that.":)

Personally, if the space and time permits, I'd recommend that you invest the cash in some graph paper (if you dont already have some) and sketch out the plans yourself.

I've done this on my past couple of desks and could NEVER have found a desk in a store that met my needs so perfectly.

Sure, it takes more time, but in the long run you have a desk tailored for your specific wants/needs and you get the kudos for being [H] enough not to buy one :-P

Yeah I know it's lame, but I don't really have the time to try to build my own desk. =\ Maybe sometime next summer I'll try it out, but for now I just want to get a pre-built one.

Pick up a classified and look in the used office equipment section. I am using a old metal office desk that was left on the back porch of my first apartment and I love it. I spray painted it black and slapped my old hutch on the back and it looks good to me. I see ones like it go for $10-$50 all the time in the classifieds. You might even be able to find a real nice wood one for a nice price.

crappy pic of it.
Its pretty roomy when I don't have crap all over it and the pull out paper thingy makes a handy arm rest :).
