Either this thing is a “napping device” for your desk or a trap that catches people sleeping at work. Either way, it is a bit on the creepy side. Thanks to Darren E. for the link.

I miss sleeping under my desk...

Everyone in their I.T. career has slept under their desk after a LONG server over haul, or program design. :D

WTH.
Wasn't there something similar that cocooned the user for "private computer use"?

While I can appreciate the technology that went into designing that contraption, I cant help but think "what a waste" ,

When I first noticed that "JiaYi Lin" was Asian, I was like "ok... makes sense" because whenever I visit China or Taiwan, I'm usually the dumb ass white guy that doesn't know about the Chinese custom of napping in the office and end up waking a bunch of people up because I thought they were just being lazy and unproductive. Then I realized that JiaYi Lin has been in Australia and has been since at least high school and has never been exposed to the mid day nap part of Chinese culture.... do they have "nap time" in the office in Australia???

Subsidizing bad habits from night by napping at school? Tsk tsk.

This is the ultimate napping device. It's proven technology and it's been around for decades. :D

I fail to see how the lights would stop someone from trying to rescue an individual from an electronic and metal-crafted human-eating desk Pac-Man robot.

The only thing I could see this aiding is a mugger who can sneak up on the person, knock them out cold and steal their wallet. That's the only thing useful I see about it....for criminals.

I have created a patently superior and massively less expensive technology that allows for more comfort and less claustrophobia.

It is called The Blanket (TM) (C). I have several patents pending.

...Wouldn't a single pedal on the floor be more useful then all that tacky shit on her arms? I mean, if you need to suit up to nap on a desk, kind of defeats the purpose of "rest" doesn't it?

I think the fact that she belongs to the faculty of arch, design and planning explains why this contraption was even thought of in the first place. Those architects, somewhat similiar to artists who draw weird things that us EE can't understand, come up with weird building designs that baffle the mind...and sometimes not in good way. This is another product of that I guess :D

that's one example of using tech where no tech is needed. just hide under a blanket

The music was not just awful. It was evil and creepy. Soul sucking nastiness. Music like that should be illegal.

What the hell is up with the LEDs? I mean seriously, if I didn't want to be disturbed, I am pretty sure the sound of my snoring would alert them of that fact...

We should augment the pointless survey of the week with the pointless new device of the week... This one is definitely up for a yearly award in that category...

Wouldn't a hoodie provide the same effect, except for the techno junk inside?

If I had to grab that shit and start bolting it to the desk, I'm sure I will be fully awake.

I'll be using my noise cancelling headphones and a hoodie if I feel to take a nap.

This would be soooooooo awesome if sitting in an uncomfortable library chair and trying to fall asleep on a hard table didn't already suck.
