denied access.? on installing ati drivers?

i decided to try the ati 4.12 beta drivers to play HL2.. well they didnt work.. failed to load shader engine...?? ok fine so i went to reinstall the 4.11 drivers and DING windows error comes up and says cannot continue to install driver... try installing the VGA drivers first..OK??????

I then uninstalled the card (RAD-9800-Pro) in the device manager and rebooted and let the comp discover the hardware and hopefully install the vga drivers .. well No it wont work it comes up with the error access denied cannot install driver device may not work properly.....

any ideas???
 
I've had that happened before too,it seems when a driver update fails or gets screwed up it does that.I believe to fix it I had to manually delete everything from ATI including the registry,but it's been awhile so I'm not sure.You could try to install the Omega drivers and see if they load or not,if they do maybe you can install the official ATI ones over them.
