Hi, just got my new 2707 this morning and connected to my PC (geforce8800gts) through DVI, and I just found out that I cannot change the aspect mode, it is set to fill and that 'wide mode' option is colored grey and disabled. Im very confused, is there any settings will enable that option??

any help is appreciated! thanks in advance

You won't be able to use the 1:1 pixel mapping (which I assume is what you mean) until you switch to a lower resolution than native...but why would you want to do that? Your 8800GTS will be fine with games at the native res..

thanks for replying joemama

there are games that dont support widescreen mode, without 1:1 mode the images look streched, like NFS only support up to 1600*1200

even lowering the res doesnt solve the problem, its still disabled..

Funny you should mention NFS because when NFS Carbon first came out that was the only time I have used the 1:1 pixel mapping. Have you checked www.widescreengamingforum.com lately? Pretty much every worthwhile game can be hacked for widescreen...even older ones. I'm playing through the original KOTOR right now @1680x1050 and it's never looked better.

even somegames can be hacked...it's still painful to know that the problem still exist with the monitor..

at the moment, it seems that its the problem of the 8800's driver, theres a widemode setting in 8800's control panel ontop of the monitor's control that overwrite the monitor's control..AND it somehow cannot be disabled or changed...

anyone experiencing the same problem?

This is a common problem with Nvidia's current set of drivers, where the flat panel scaling mode selected in the control panel doesn't seem to be remembered. There is a workaround that I've used with my Dell 2707WFP and 8800GTX with sucess.

Install the latest drivers for the 8800GTX, currently thats 158.22 for Windows XP.

Then, download this program:

http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/...std_adp.php?p_faqid=2064&p_created=1177972007

and run the EnableOverscanCompensation.exe program. Then, reboot your PC.

Finally, set the scaling mode in the control panel you want.
