(This is an e-mail i sent Dell, im just going to copy and paste it in here for you guys to see if you have any clue whats the problem, some of you are probably smarter than Dells tech support also)

"I have been getting this problem alot. Sometimes when i turn on my
computer or i restart the bar goes through where is says dell then in
just sits there for about 10 seconds. Then a black screen pops up
saying
Drive 0:SATA 0 not found and Drive 2:SATA 2 not found. So then i wait
about 1 minute then it says press F1 to continue or F2 to enter setup.
Well if i press F1 it wont work because its not detecting the hardrive
with the operating system on it. so i just press f2. then i have to
change something in the bios(i just change the color on the computer)
and save and exit. after it restarts it now says just Drve 2 not
found.
then i press F1 to continue because it found the hardrive with the
operating system it. then when windows pops up i hit shutdown. after it
shutsdown i turn it back on and it finds all hardrives and works
normally. it has happend about 15-20 times this month.

I tried to solve by doing this:
I have updated bios of your site. update via chipset drivers. updates
intel application accelerator. updates video drivers."

try reseating the sata and power cables, sata cables don't have much holding power and
could have been loosened during shiping.

heheheheh thats funny, dell support told me the same thing. i reseated all the sata cables and sata power cabels. i really dont know if it has fixed the problem, because sometimes it wont give me that error for like a week. so ill post back with updates. thanxs

update: it was working fine until this morning. so i e-mailed dell and told them all my info to setup home service. then they e-mailed me back it has been setup and they will replace the hardisk. from the sound of this problem it doesnt sound like the hardisk to me. it sounds more like the moherboard.

I think Dell is taking the right approach. It sounds to me that the problem is to intermittent to say what -IS- the failing part. The first thing to do is to replace the hard drive and cable. Hard drives tend to fail a lot more then motherboards.

id do about the same in this order

replace cable
replace HDD
use anothere controler
