Dell U2913WM 2560x1080 $400

Also the AOC version for $380, code PRETHXGV1NG

Considering the minor price difference, I think most people would get the Dell...But I think the AOC the better buy..Aside from the $20 price difference, I know the AOC has scored very well in many of the reviews that have looked at it..The LG IIRC, is the worst of all of these 29" despite using the exact same panel..

What do you think the chances are of these dropping to ~$300 regularly are? I really want to get a 27" 1440P, but decided to wait and see what they Holiday sales produce..I wish they would make a ~32" WS that has a larger vertical resolution..That would be true Heaven!

love the price and how wide it is...but i think the height would drive me crazy (its 1 inch less in screen height than my 24inch lol)...if only it were a 30 inch possibly....idk but is very tempting since i kinda want to upgrade from my 9 year old 24 inch dell...would be awesome if someone had it local and would pricematch

couldn't agree more!!!!!

how would this thing handle a console system hooked up to it? think it would stretch the 1080p?

This is really tempting. I have a Dell U2312HM, this seems to be about the same height just wider. I dont think I can convince my wife we need to drop (another) $400 bucks on computer stuff though.

How is the screen quality compared to the 27" version by Dell - UltraSharp U2713HM? I realize the aspect ratios are much different.

it will put black bars on the sides.

really this aspect ratio is not ready for prime time. anyone claiming its works for all their games are clueless. they dont even notice that some games cut of the top and bottom and just zoom in or that others will stretch it. some games will appear to be fine but will distort some things on the very edge. also many games will simply put black bars on sides such as all of the Assassins Creed series and the The Witcher 2. having fooled around with this aspect ratio for days I would not even consider buying one of these for now.

The AOC version has considerably less ghosting and input lag vs. the Dell. The LG models use insulting low 120hz LED PWM Dimming Frequencies (Side Effects).

AOC

Dell: The response times are pretty slow for an IPS/PLS panel

Both Asus models are also good though the Trace Free (overdrive) setting needs to be reduced to 20 to get rid of th obvious overshoot ghosting but it is still better than the Dell.

PC Monitors has a nice article about 21:9 monitors, read before buying.

Using it feels like using two 1920 monitors side by side, as in two web browsers next to each other. It's not my cup of tea, but some might like it. I'd recommend finding a place to look at one before you spend $400.
