Dell U2410

There were always H-IPS panel with the part number LM240WU4-SLB1 in U2410.
Is it true that since the end of 2009 there are worse LM240WU1 panels in U2410??
Or maybe it depends on factory - if Dell produces U2410 in more than 1 factory ??
Can somebody answer me? Or maybe can you open your monitor (if date of manufacture is between Sept-Dec 2009) and look for the part number in back of the panel?

try removing all color profiles from windows color management and reset u2410 to factory settings.

It turns out my old calibration software used to calibrate my old HP monitor suddenly loaded the old profile, totally forgot I still had it installed. Changed back to my new one and everything went back to normal. Sorry everyone for the "trouble".

For those of you who own this monitor and game with it what mode do you typically leave it in (e.g., sRGB or gaming mode)? With the later (i.e., gaming mode) how does the visual quality compare to your typical TN panel? The reason I ask is because I have a Samsung 245BW and I've toyed with the idea of setting 3 U2410s up in portrait mode. My only concern is having to set the U2410 to "gaming mode" to compensate for input lag and thus possibly reducing the visual quality (e.g,. due to over saturation of some colors) to what a typical 6bit panel can produce.

My 2408 REV.A00 broke 3 days ago and i got a refurbished U2410 directly from Dell on friday. The display was manufactured in Czech Republic an is a REV.A00 but it has no dithering at all, I checked it almost hundred times and changed every possible parameter in his onscreen menu. The only thing I have to complain about is this annoying glittering IPS-panel.

That stupid glitter effect is because they (LG probably) wanted to use the cheapest matte coating ever.

My Soyo24 matte panel looks clear enough, and I've seen clearer.
The Soyo is certainly better than the reflective glossy crap.
 
LG is the cheapest of everything, they are the Kia of technology. While it looks good at first once you get into for awhile you start to notice the cheapness of it.
 
Is this stand on this thing removable? I need to make the monitor a bit smaller for shipping purposes.

if you have a display calibration device then you should use it...

well..... Kia has 7 years warranty on their latest models - better than most (all ?) manufacturers. They do excellent cars and bite bigger chucks of market share year after year and one of the reasons for that is excellent products.

Mine will be here Thursday. I may send it back. Having a serious case of buyers remorse. I hate spending this much on a monitor. :p
 
Just got my U2410 a few days ago and haven't noticed any tinting or dead/stuck pixel problems. I've maxed out the saturation and have tried anything I could think of to test for tinting, so if there is any I can't notice it anyway.. I also haven't seen any backlight bleeding, although I have noticed the "white glow" effect, and the obvious dithering in the sRGB/adobe RGB modes. I was afraid I was going to have to play the lottery game and have to keep exchanging monitors due to the tinting issues people keep having, but I guess I'm lucky enough to not have to deal with that.

Fixed, honestly if you think Kia is an excellent product I have a car I will sell you. How many seven year old Kia's have you seen on the road lately? Ever try to get a Kia repaired through warranty service? Not the easiest I can tell you that from experience.

LG products are cheap made in Korea. How do you think NEC is able to sell there 23" IPS model for $300? Using cheap LG panels. Dell is selling you brand recognition at a higher price to help support the return rate on these. Notice all of the other non-ultra screens of Dell that do not have such a liberal return policy sell for half the price? I know you can argue they are not IPS panels, big whoop, do you really think IPS costs that much more to produce versus a TN panel? It's all about supply, demand and name recognition.

yeah i know what you mean, i have minimal tint on mine which i will say its perfect minus the dithering.

however, i called Dell Support this morning and got hanged up 3 times when ever i mentioned about exchanging my monitor for the fixed firmware. They would pretend their going to check your back ground information and BOOM!! you got hung up.
 
In case anyone is having the ICM issue (Photoshop CS2,3,4 reporting defective profile, some tint issues in Picture Viewer, etc.) Dell has released a beta ICM profile that fixes these. I tested it and it works (I'm Gecks on the Dell Forum).

Have to say I'm pleased with Dell customer service thus far (both from the returns I delt with) and also product follow-up.

If there is a way to get the dithering fixed to my satisfaction, I'll be fully pleased with this monitor.

As far as the ICM profile, I'll imagine they'll get some more feedback and make a full release at some point. This should really help those who don't have access to calibration software.

WU4 10-bit WU1 8-bit so no way they can replace 4 with 1 IMHO.

There is a way to fix the awful static dithering in sRGB and AdobeRGB modes. It's the A01 firmware revision, but they're not releasing it. All new panels still come with the A00 revision.

Hey everyone,

I've had my monitor for a few months now. I did a writeup about it quite a bit earlier in this thread.

Just wanted to post the settings I use:

Brightness: 75
Contrast: 37
Gain: R 98/ G 100/ B 98
Offset: R 55/ G 50/ B 55
Hue: R 51/ G 51/ B 49/ C 51/ M 49/ Y 51
Saturation: R 25/ G 31/ B 36/ C 38/ M 27/ Y 29

These are the settings I came up with when I first got the monitor. Its pretty close to my crt except some hues are off (some purples for example), but close enough using my eyes for calibration. Only way I got the colors perfect was using the hue controls but that introduced a ton of other problems.

According to the Dell forum people have recently begun receiving NEW U2401 that are A01. Interesting considering the Dell rep. said that Dell would not be shipping new A01 anytime soon. I hope it's true that A01 are shipping.

Good stuff! If there are more confirmed A01 shipments it will make me feel a lot better about buying this thing.
 
The AG coating is super agressive. I knew this going in but I really didnt think it would be this bad. It looks ok on dark screens but when you get to really light ones such as google the sparkle is terrible. It will take take some getting used it. It is worse than my IPS 2007wfp that I now use at work. Better than the crappy 19" dell tn lcds we have there.
