I'm trying to decide between these two monitors. It looks like with the coating and hard-to-read text issues, that the HP is probably the more solid buy. Especially when these are priced about the same.

If the A01 revision were to fix the u2410's issues, would it even be a step up from the HP?

If it helps, I'm a web designer who watches a lot of tv and plays some video games.

So basically you're stuck between two different models of the same LG panel, the dell being the newer revision.

For me, i'd take the dell for a few reasons. I like dell's warranty and support and have had one bad hp warranty person, but i'm sure Dell has bad apples too..
Both monitors are fantastic when calibrated but the Dell has a lot lower display lag when game mode is enabled.

Other than that, I think you're pretty much buying the same monitor. I'm still considering the A00 u2410 for sale for $460 on ebay w/ 8% bing cashback and for me that's nearly $100 or more less than the LP2475W for the same LG panel.

Can't speak for the matte coating being too thick on the Dell, could just people being super critical of something that would never bother most of us.

I returned a HP LP2475W recently because the text/finish combination was unacceptable. It was fine for pictures and movies. I have yet to decide what to buy - as a Mac user it will probably be a costly Cinema Display as the glossy finish I think is better for the text heavy work I do.

i am looking at buying one of those also. the design on both look good. i kind of would have to get the cheap one, so is the hp. i have a question, i was at frys another day and saw the new 27in imac screen, do these monitors screen picture quality look anything like the imac, anyone know?

After reading TFT-Central's review of U2410 I was severely dissapointed. Both might have same panel, but thats where the similarities end. U2410 seems to severely lack in backlight department, having quite bad contrast and black depth. If you enable sRGB mode and/or do any calibration to D65 specifications, it gets even worse.

So LP2475w seem like better choice unless wide gamut oversaturation bothers you, which can partially be fixed by saturation/digital vibrance controls in graphics card settings BTW.

On input lag, I heard that later firmware versions of LP2475w have very low input lag. Mine is older one though, so I cannot confirm.
