Dell u2312HM Questions

I just scored one for $158 shipped from dell via EPP & a coupon that I managed to haggle them into adding on. The deal was too good to pass up, but I'm starting to have some doubts...

I planned on replacing this monitor for my primary PC/PS3 monitor. I didn't realize that there was no HDMI port or audio port so how am I suppose to get sound/video from my PS3?

For my PC I was going to go from my graphic card dvi -> vga - > monitor vga. Then I guess PS3 video would be from ps3 -> hdmi -> dvi -> monitor dvi. Where does the sound go and how would I get it?

Lastly, with the u2312HM I initially took the dive because it was reported to have low response times compared to other IPS panels. I play competitive shooters (particularly MW3) will I experience noticeable input lag/ghosting on this monitor? I'm use to my Asus VW266h 2 ms response time. I know its a little late to ask all these questions but the deal seemed really good and I've always wanted to try IPS but I'm not sure I made the right decision now.

No HDMI and no sound support. There's a Dell soundbar for speakers you can buy separately but you may as well buy real speakers if you want that. Hooking up a PS3 to this monitor generally would be considered a bad idea, especially if that is relegating your PC to be hooked up via VGA. If your computer has DP out, that would be preferable. There's some but very little ghosting as it is an IPS monitor and will be slightly slower than a TN panel, since reports have it at 5~8ms of response time and you're used to 2ms.

Yeah I have DP output so I guess I could do DP output for PC and then hdmi/dvi for PS3. Still not sure how I would get sound out of this though? I mean, I have headphones I want to use. But where would I plug the headphones in?

And also, I always assumed using VGA was no worse then using DVI/HDMI, at least for a TF panel. Is this difference for IPS?

It's dell's employee discount program. If you work at a company that is on Dell's list you can apply.

Alternatively, you can find a site that will provide a company # for you if you want to take that risk (they don't really check into it as long as you provide it).
