Considering buying this board LINK but I'm not sure if it will actually work? I've seen a lot of stories where people ran the 5500 boards inside a regular case and those weird oddball BTX. This seems totally standard besides the mounting holes. Anyone have any ideas or experience?

That board isn't ATX or BTX compatible, it's proprietary. The holes for the screws are all over the place, the rear I/O ports are in the wrong place and there's too much board above the top screws above the CPU sockets.

If it would fit in anything, it'd have to be an EATX case and you'd have to do significant modifications to the screw pattern inside the case to make it mount properly.

OK thanks for the input, I was hoping I'd found a dual lga 2011 board for cheap but it's probably not worth the hassle!
