How has your luck been with Dell replacing entire systems?

I'm pretty convinced I have a lemon of a system and it would probably be best just to try out a new one.

Have you guys gotten replacement systems from Dell in the past? If you could detail a bit about your experience that'd be great.

How long have you had the system? I bought a M1330 in December, it had the high pitch noise issue. I checked the motherboard revision and it was A01 while A04 was the latest. I called them up and they sent me a new one by next day shipping. That one still had the high pitch noise, so I decided to just send return it and get something else. I called them back and they emailed me pre-paid UPS shipping labels. I was told I could drop them off at a UPS store or schedule a pickup. I'd heard bad stories about UPS pickups, so I elected to drop it off in person. Anyway, they didn't give me any hassle abut returning it, but they did take their time refunding my money, it was 30 business days, not 7-14 as promised.

After talking with a rep, Dell is sending me a replacement system.

They said it should be here in a week or so.

I'm not sure if I want to hold onto it - I might just get rid of it right away and save my money to buy a new machine at some later date

OK I BASICALLY LOVE DELL

I got my new replacement system today...

It has an LED DISPLAY!

2ghz processor instead of 1.8

3gb of ram included, instead of 1

200gb hd instead of 120

i love dell I LOVE DELL

Glad to hear you had such good luck with them.

I've got a refurbed M1330 enroute that I'm praying I don't have issues with, but if I do, I pray they take care of it for me just as well.

Grats!

I had 4 motherboards replaced in my m1710 before I got a new system...Dell is crap IMO. But they're still the best crap available :-(

At work, we avoid Dell as much as we could. We were using Dells exclusively few years ago, but not anymore. Too many problems.

See and we use them exclusively with (comparatively) very little problems. My office is about 300 users, and the company is > 1500.

You guys gotta admit: offering a customer a new system with an LED display, 2GHZ cpu, more ram, and more HD space is one way to fix a problem.

I'm already having such a better experience with this system - glad I didn't sell my old one and try to find a replacement right away. I got all the features i'm looking for in an ideal notebook system for a fraction of the cost.
