Dell ST2220T - glossy IPS

Can someone tell me what panel (make and model number) is used
in the Dell ST2220T?

Is the panel true 8-bit or is it 6-bit plus dithering?

The panel does pretty well in the reviews, but the stand is lame
and there is no VESA mount, so I would have to kludge something up
to get it where I need it to be. I also don't need the touch screen,
low-end speakers, or USB hub.

So I wonder if there is some other make/model display that uses the
same panel. I suppose a glossy IPS with full 1920x1200 is too much
to hope for.

glossy IPS with full 1920x1200

Glossy 25" 1920x1200 120hz ATW IPS with zero input lag! :):):)

Would be the perfect monitor, until OLED.

...which is probably why it probably won't happen, as there's more money to be made by selling crappy displays that people will replace with new ones.

I have one, and it's a very great monitor! Much better than the U2211H with AG coating.

I don't know the type number, but it's an LG E-IPS 21,5 panel.

There are no other monitors with IPS and glossy coating except de apple cinema display and some hazro monitors, sadly.

What does ATW stand for in this context? Closest thing I found
with google & wikipedia is Atari Transputer Workstation.

If we're dreaming, add a flashing backlight to emulate a
film projector, because of the persistence-of-vision issue.
And a button to turn it on and off as needed.

The interpolate extra frames method would be nice, except
that there isn't always enough information available for it
to work properly.

And true 10 bits per color, and response time in us rather than ms, and...

But back to the real world, do any brick&mortar stores carry the
ST2220T?

I realize the 120hz part may not be so possible (the rest is perfectly possible), 72hz would be enough.

EDIT:

Consider that the monitor has high lag: "Input lag was measured to around 25-30 ms" from http://www.flatpanelshd.com/review.php?subaction=showfull&id=1302259660

Myself I find 10ms of lag to be enough to make FPS games crap. Not entirely unplayable, but it is enough to be very noticeable and enough to change how you can play.

And it's very small for the res, only 21.5"... which means a dot pitch of 0.248mm.

Thanks. Although if you believe http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1494621
"The company that made the ATW polarizer no longer makes them so you'll find
it difficult to find any current monitor with this polarizer."

I will not be using it for games. Mostly reading text (hence the
concern with antiglare).

There aren't a lot of choices with glossy plus no dithering. :-(
If I buy the ST2220T I'll have to have it closer than I would
a larger (say 24-28") monitor.

Does the service menu show the make & model of the panel?
How to access service menu on Dell monitors:

Yeah I knew the company that made them quit doing it, but it shouldn't be hard for someone else, or the same company if they're requested by Dell (for example), to manufacture new ones. Unless there's some weird legal/rights problem involved.

Even without the A-TW polarizer it would be a really good display though. With it = uber ultra awesome.

I am considering 2 montiors at present. One of these is the Dell ST2220T and the other is the HP LA2405WG. Both of these monitors are available in Peru but I live near Cusco and none of the stores carry what would be very high-end monitors for most people here.

If possible, I would like to know if you have seen a HP LA2405WG in person and, if so, how does it compare to your Dell ST2220T?

How do you rate the readability of the Dell?

Can you try increasing the font size to 135% and 143% and tell us whether it is easier on the eyes for reading text?

If you follow the instructions at the following page you may be able to tell us what panel this monitor uses.
