Given the not so common resolution of this monitor (2048 x 1152) and although the good review CNET gave it, I have these quick questions about how good is this monitor downscaling the images of lesser resolutions like:

a) How is DVD playback quality? Better, equal or worse than a 23" monitor with a 1920 x 1080.

b) Same question but with BD movies?

c) And most importantly, how good will it handle PS3 games given that those are 720p?

I have always been against using a monitor not in its native resolution.

I would like to believe the very good review CNET made for this monitor but those resolution issues are setting me back.

Thanks!

I've been looking at that monitor myself.
It gets a rave review here:

I think if you were thinking of hard core gaming you would need a reasonably good graphics card to run it. That's a lot of pixels.
The other concern I had was, using it as a bedroom monitor/TV, was the viewable screen size (which I found somewhere and lost but it ain't very big) and viewing angles over say 8 feet.

I imagine you will have people telling you that you TN is crap and that what you really need is an IPS panel at a lot more money.
They're probably right but you probably know that already anyway;)

Yeah. Well I already have a IPS monitor, the DELL 2007WFP and colors are great, outstanding but I also have a HP 2007w and GAMES (only games) look better in the HP monitor thank to its glossy display. Color might not be 100% accurate but the glossy screen gives a vivid and crystal, almost there image, specially with water effects.

I have this monitor and love it. The colors look vibrant and I cant speak for DVD play back but playing the ps3 on it the image is crisp and clean. I bought it when it was on sale at $200ish last year on black friday and would do it again. You get a lot for your money with the web cam and built in mic. I would recommend it. The only thing that slightly bothers me is the reflection this monitor has...But I only find myself noticing when I am sitting at my desk bored and just staring at the black background on this forum for example. Otherwise you can't see/notice it when gaming or watching a video.
