I am one who knows next to nothing about the hardware of computers, but I'm trying to get a bigger case for my Dell Dimension 4500s. The problem is, I've been told the motherboard may not have such a form factor that I can transfer it to another case. Does anyone know the form factor of the motherboard of a 4500s and/or whether it can be transfered to a bigger case?

I'm sure it can certainly be done, but it may require a little creative "rigging". If you are looking for a straight fit, then i don't think it'll happen. OEM motherboard tend to be of a non-standard size for some reason.
On the lighter side, i have seen some OEM boards ghetto rigged into standard ATX cases, like i stated earlier. It wasn't pretty, but it got the job done.

You will need to keep the original Dell PSU with the mother board as they are basically wired backwords.{A Dell PSU will fry a non Dell mainboard and vice versa} And you will have to cut and splice the cables from the new case to the mainboard, Just gotta ask why you need a bigger case.

There is not a single thing wrong with a Dell. Yea sure you can't overclock them, but they aren't that bad.
If your going to move the motherboard to another case, it can be done. There is a web site that has the pinouts for the power switch, power/ide light and reset button.

I have a 4550 here right now, and there is no problem with it size-wise, why do you want to move it? You will need to MOD a standard ATX case just to get this mounted, and IMO that is not worth it. What CPU have you got in there? This one has a P4 2.4B, and with it's performance... it's not worth spending anymore on it ...
