I have an XPS 400 and the Dell screen which appears at start up is taking longer than usual. The loading bar goes to the end and it seems to hold there for a minute or so. I reinstalled Windows but it is still having this problem.

the specs are

Intel Pentium D- 3.0ghz
1024mb ram
ATi X600 256mb
160gb hdd

thanks.

Disconnect all USB devices (except mouse and keyboard) and see if it continues, then start adding devices back one by one. Also, look in BIOS and make sure that Boot From USB/SmartBay is turned off (something like that, don't recallt he exact phrase).

Have you called XPS support? They're pretty good - I'd give them a try.

yah, nobody knows Dell like their support people... :) Only thing I hate is "press 1 for this, or that"...you know?

Keep in mind that you DON'T want regular support - you want XPS support. Worlds of difference, I can assure you.
