I was initially trying to build a gaming system but someone is giving me a Dell Precision 650 with the following:
2 GB RAM
Dual 2.6 GHz Xeon Processors
Nvidia 6200 OC
DVD Burner
DVD Drive
400 GB Hard Drive(approx) SCSI

I do plan on doing some gaming and from what I hear xeons are not gaming CPU's. My question is should I scrap the build and sell the parts or sell the Dell. I know if I keep the Dell then I would need a new AGP video card. If you recommend that I keep the Dell what would be a good video card for under $200? If I continue the build then what motherboard and video card?
Thanks,
E

The Xeon can game just as good as anything else. Its basically a Pentium with a larger cache. I'm not a Dell fan but I don't see any reason to build a new machine unless $$$ is not an issue. If you do build a new machine I reccomend an Antec P180B as the Praetorian looks cool but is not mcuh fun to build in.

Thanks for the reply. I already bought the parts I listed as this would have been my first build. I do need the money so I guess I will start selling off the parts and keep the Dell for a while.

You should be all set if your gaming ends at games like cs:s and battlefield 2 (though you may want to upgrade the card for bf2 or oblivion, and if you do, make sure it has enough memory, I made the mistake of getting a 128mb 6800, which runs great, but chugs with high detail textures on)

Your upgrade path is kinda limited with the new computer, but by then you'll probably want to build a new machine entirely at once anyways.
