Anyone own one of these machines with PC1066 RDRAM memory in it? I know it can handle PC800 and PC600, but I'm curious as to if it can handle PC1066. It's only $10 more per stick then PC800 and I'd assume it would be a bit faster too.

If his comp uses RAMBUS, Crucial will say they won't have info on what memory it can use.

Go to Dell Accessories section, and look for computer memory. You'll probably be able to find out through their selector.

Yeah, your right...I forgot about that. I must have been thinking of Kingston or some other company that made RAMBUST memory.

Yeah, Dell doesn't say anything about their speed, just that it can only use sticks with up to 16 memory chips on them, nothing more, and nothing with 6 memory chips on them. I have tried PC600 & PC800 without ECC and they work, I got PC800 with ECC because Dell said ECC would work, but they don't. PC800 single channel gets only 815MB/s transfer, which is pathetic, I'd really like to run PC1066 so I have some sort of decent memory throughput. But if it's not possible it's ok.

I don't recall about Rambus memory, but I would think it would be backwards compatible - just like regular SDRAM. It might not run at PC1066 speeds, but it should "work".

You could use Sandra or some other motherboard ID program to see if it would have any info on this board.

Sandra runs, but all that does is tell me the speed difference, before coughing up another $200 to find out it doesn't work, I was just wondering if anyone else had tried it. Thanks for all your guys help.
