i was going to OC my grandmas dell up maybe 100 mhz more, right now its 3.0ghz w/HT 1gb dual channel 1901FP lcd monitor nvidia gfx 5200 128mb, but the bios is so weird and i have no idea where to go, does dell do this on purpose?
 
alright thanks cause i dont have a dell at my house thank god and i was also used to ocing an amd so it was double confusing ^_^
 
its a safety feature IMO, since they realized that their computers run so hot and if you open up the case to add better cooling, GG warranty(which you will need for a Dell).
 
For the matter, most big OEMs lock their BIOSes. This may rile the power users, but it's so people don't act like morons and destroy their systems by overvolting or whatever, and so Dell tech support (or Gateway, HP, whatever) doesn't get flooded with calls all basically saying "I set the FSB to 300, now the system just makes a long beep and nothing happens."

Also, have you ever seen Dell cooling? It's a single 92 mm fan and the CPU's passively cooled.
